It has been awhile, but I am back...

It has been quite awhile since I posted on this blog. My daughter's engagement (which you can read about here) has taken my mind off politics for a couple weeks. (But my mind is definitely NOT off religion...not a day goes by that God doesn't enter my thoughts!)

I had decided when I did get back to posting here, I was going to come at it with a new slant. I still plan on doing that. But in the meantime, I did want to post about this.

I am sure most people reading this blog also read World Net Daily, which is one of my favorite sources of news. If you do, then you probably saw the article about Walter Cronkite having a "radical agenda". This is the first I had heard of that. Really, all I knew about him was the way he cried when he told us President Kennedy was dead. And having him in our living rooms, watching together as we landed on the moon (still haven't made my mind up on that one. Sorry.) Watching both events in glorious black and white TV...I can still see his face. He was a dinner guest every evening in our home as we ate our pot roast while watching images of Vietnam. (How did we keep from going mad??????)

So, imagine my suprize when I read the words spoken by Mr. Cronkite in 1989. Here is an excerpt from the WND article:

"After leaving his position with CBS, Cronkite's political activism and offbeat ideas had no restraints.

In 1989, Cronkite spoke to a dinner organized by People for the American Way, a group founded by Norman Lear. His candid politics surprised even that audience.

"I know liberalism isn't dead in this country," he said. "It simply has, temporarily we hope, lost its voice."

The article further states,

In 1999, he appeared at the United Nations to accept the Norman Cousins Global Governance Award from the World Federalists Association. He told those assembled, including Hillary Rodham Clinton, that the first step toward achieving a one-world government – his personal dream – is to strengthen the United Nations.

"It seems to many of us that if we are to avoid the eventual catastrophic world conflict we must strengthen the United Nations as a first step toward a world government patterned after our own government with a legislature, executive and judiciary, and police to enforce its international laws and keep the peace," he said. "To do that, of course, we Americans will have to yield up some of our sovereignty. That would be a bitter pill. It would take a lot of courage, a lot of faith in the new order."
In
his acceptance speech, Cronkite added, "Pat Robertson has written in a book a few years ago that we should have a world government, but only when the Messiah arrives. He wrote, literally, any attempt to achieve world order before that time must be the work of the devil. Well, join me. I'm glad to sit here at the right hand of Satan."

Wow! Who knew? Who knew Walter was a "New World Order" type of guy? I sure didn't. Back then, politics held no interest for me. These days, the Bible and world events and the people who shape them go hand in hand...

If you haven't, I suggest you read the article. It was a real "eye-opener" for me.

So glad to see new posts from you! I can't read more on Cronkite, but thanks for the links.
I didn't blog his death because I didn't want to be too unkind based mostly on my 'feelings'..you hit my points with FACTS...GOOD LADY! Thanks.
That line about the Devil gave me a chill. God forbid, huh?

  2. Good article and glad you're back. :) Yeah, we've known for some time that Walter Cronkite was no good. He was a commie lib in the first degree. Now the far left will turn him into one of their false gods (like Abraham Lincoln, another worthless individual) and worship his name for decades.

Hubby is reading a new book "The Constitution In Exile" by Judge Napolitano. I'll read it next but he is giving me exerpts as he reads. This book should be required reading by all students!! The Judge should run for President. I think he's one of the few that could get us out of this pickle. :o)
